The Open Apparel Registry

Brand Film

The Open Apparel Registry (OAR) is an open-source tool that aims to untangle complex apparel supply chains. We created an animation to support the launch of the OAR and explain what the tool does in a clear and simple way.

Problem

The Open Apparel Registry (OAR) is an open-source tool that aims to untangle complex apparel supply chains. By assigning unique ID numbers, the OAR is able to identify global apparel facilities and their affiliations by collating supplier lists from industry stakeholders into one central, open-source map and database. Launched publicly in 2019, it aims to become the go-to source for identifying apparel facilities around the globe and bringing some much-needed transparency to the supply chain.

Solution

We created an animation to support the launch of the OAR and explain what the tool does in a simple way. The apparel supply chain is complex so the tool to help disentangle the fashion industry shouldn’t be. By clearly and simply outlining how the OAR works through a combination of motion-graphics, copy and screen recordings, we wanted to engage stakeholders to collaborate and contribute to to help grow the database.
